GAP Regional Development Programme

The main objective of the programme is to alleviate poverty through the strengthening and diversification of rural based sustainable income generation.

This programme is to provide opportunities to support initiatives aimed at the enhancement of the living conditions of rural population, improvement of partnership in solving communities’ social and economic problems, such as low yield and quality in production, inadequate marketing systems, low income level, lack of technology, training and organization, and the well being of local communities.

Proposed projects shall focus on income generating activities such as crop production, animal husbandry, aquaculture products, agriculture-based industries, dairy, beekeeping and honey processing, forestry, grazing land improvement, handicrafts, rural tourism and similar activities to improve the capacity of civil society organizations.

The grant programme will positively discriminate in favor of projects that include one or more of the following priority areas:

• Having innovative and participatory approaches
• Promote and encourage partnerships among relevant stakeholders
• Promote voluntary and collective action through mobilization of local initiatives
• Providing active participation of target groups into the projects
• Sustainable projects and projects that have a multiplier impact
