Social Development Component

Objectives of the Programme

The objective of this component is to increase capacity utilisation in social services through upgrading the existing approaches and development of new effective services and management techniques.  The social component of EADP will support projects designed to improve the social conditions of vulnerable/disadvantaged groups defined as;

 

§         Women, young people, children;

§         Disabled people;

§         The poor who live in rural areas and urban slums.

Priority Issues of the Programme

Under this Call for Proposals, priority will be given to projects that:

 

§         Establish social infrastructure, i.e. organise the target group, especially young women, into community- support for development of civil society or other self help groups for development actions. (section 2.1.3 eligible actions)

§         Cover all the four provinces of Bitlis, Muþ, Hakkari and Van.

§         Integrate different activities related to other components of EADP

§         Improve access to education and skills levels

§         Improve access to health services

§         Create income generating activities

Types of actions

Actions should be self-contained operations; with a coherent set of activities including clearly defined operational objectives, target groups and planned outcomes, carried out within a limited time frame. They should be designed in response to the situation in the EADP area and to the specific needs of the target groups identified by the project. Actions should be clearly relevant to key issues in social development. Such actions may include:

§         Actions to encourage and promote that children attend schooling;

§         Actions to assist “street” children and other children in need;

§         Actions to promote women’s involvement in income generating activities and ability to gain employment;

§         Women’s literacy training;

§         Vocational training;

§         Actions that promotes women in rural areas and urban slums to form organisations

§         Information and consultation services to vulnerable groups, especially young women.

§         Access to legal services for poor women;

§         Actions that will assist disabled people to access services or participate in normal social life;

§         Actions that will assist the poor who live in rural areas or urban slums.

These types of actions are by way of example only and projects are not to be limited to these types of activities only provided that the applicants demonstrate that the proposal meets the component specific objectives

 

Duration: 

The duration of an action shall not exceed 18 months.

Location: 

Actions must take place in Turkey in one or more of the following targeted provinces: Bitlis, Hakkari, Muþ , Van

In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must comply with the following conditions:

§         Be non profit making legal organisations; or

§         Be Non Governmental Organisations; local administrations and their unions, trade unions, chambers, universities, schools, community centres, etc.;

§         Be located in the project region. National organisations with a branch office and a clear role in the region are to be eligible. In this case a document for their foundation is required, proving that local branch has been registered and it is an independent entity with own set of accounts;

Organisations that are not established or operating in the EADP area may apply for grants as partners of the applicant, where the applicant is registered, established or operating in the EADP area.
